Employer sponsored visa -To be eligible for these categories of visa, applicants must: 

  • have been nominated by an approved Australian employer
  • be less than 45 years of age for permanent visa, No age limit for Temporary Visa
  • meet the English language requirement
  • meet the skills and qualification requirements. 

Visa Categories:

These visa categories are not subject to the points test.

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa-Subclass 186 

This is a permanent visa that allows Australian employers to sponsor highly skilled workers to fill skilled vacancies in their business. Employers can employ skilled workers from overseas or from temporary residents who are living and working in Australia. 

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa- Subclass 494

This is a provisional visa that allows you to live, work and study only in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years and if you eligible, you can apply for permanent residence after 3 years from the time your visa granted.

To be eligible for this visa, you must

  • be nominated to work in an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • have at least 3 years relevant work experience in your nominated occupation
  • have a relevant skills assessment, unless an exemption applies
  • work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless an exemption applies
  • be under 45 years of age, unless an exemption applies
  • meet minimum standards of English language proficiency

This visa has two streams

1. Employer sponsored stream

This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker

2. Labour agreement stream

This stream is for skilled workers nominated by employers who have a labour agreement. Labour agreements are developed between the Australian Government (represented by the Department) and employers.

Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa-Subclass 482

This visa enables employers to address labour shortage by bringing workers where they cannot source an appropriate skilled Australian. The occupations must have been listed in the Occupations Lists. These visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor under one of the following streams.

1. Short-term stream

This stream is available if your employer wishes to sponsor you (as an overseas skilled worker) on a temporary basis only in occupations listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation list (STSOL) for a TSS visa. It can be used to fill positions for a maximum of two years or four years if an International Trade Obligation applies.

2. Medium-term stream

This stream is available if your employer wishes to sponsor you (as an overseas skilled worker) for periods of up to four years in occupations listed on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) for a TSS visa.

3. Labour agreement stream

This stream is available if your employer wishes to sponsor you (as an overseas worker) and has entered into a labour agreement with the Department.
